Stars in the Sky
Exhibit presents types of waste/pollution, we usually don’t think about, which, nevertheless, have a negative impact on the environment and our health - light pollution. The exhibit is designed as a free-standing object in the shape of a sphere with an entrance from one side. It is pierced through with plexiglass rods that transfer the surrounding light inside the sphere. Several spotlights are placed at ground level, making the room bright, and the light transferred by plexiglass sticks is not visible. The task of the visitors is to cover the lights with their bodies so that the room is darkened, and the only source of light is the one transferred by the rods, creating an effect of starry night skies. This type of simulation addresses the light pollution of cities.
The sphere is made of polystyrene foam with the help of a special three-axis robot and coated with polyurethane plastic paint for longevity. The length and diameter of the plexiglass rods will be specified during the development of the technical project to ensure they are safe for visitors and cannot be broken.
